Positive and negative !

Hi all,

Prompted by the thoughts of WD12 and Larry Lamb I have a little to add.

There has been a lot of negative comment lately. Surely it is possible to disagree without being disagreeable !!! Is that where some are going wrong ??

By all means, if anyone has something critical to say about an idea, thought or position, say it, but at least let’s be ‘adult’ about it and keep personal slagging off the board. I for one will freely admit that I don’t like everything said here, nor agree with it all, but I have yet to find such a varied, and generally accepting, arena for discussion of a topic which is surely what attracted most of us here in the first place. I think it could well be that some have resorted to private conversations or emails and limited their interaction here while the mud-slinging goes on. The more sensitive or impatient may leave altogether.

If we chase people away then we have fundamentally failed a simple communication challenge: That of speaking freely with a completely anonymous group of people with a broadly similar interest, without judging each other. If we take a moment to consider such a failure it can only lead (in my humble opinion I hasten to add) to the conclusion that we are piss poor communicators !! (pun intended)

Sorry, I had to get that off my chest, it’s been brewing for a while.

I think what this proves is that people have mood swings...LOL...

This group is different than the group populating WetSet for one main reason...

Even when we're bickering with each other and the board loses direction, we have the ability to recognize that we don't like the state of the board and stop everything...then start over and get back on topic. I've already this happen three times since Istarted posting on this board...things got ugly for a few weeks, people left, it looked bad...then when people started coming back to see if things had settled down, they realized that indeed they had.

WetSet has not had this ability.

The concerns that this place is goign the way of WetSet are, to me, groundless...given how much we've already overcome.

I haven't been to the wet set board so I can't comment on it. All I can say is that most of the people who post here are wonderful and I totally appreciate you taking the effort to send your messages.

Occasionaly something original that doesn't really fit the board gets posted here, and gentle nudging, rather than total assault would be an appropriate response.

I Agree about what has been said about our disagreements and aurguments.
The problem with the Wet Set board I have found is that its full of pay spams and misleading titles leading to spams with pop ups and jumk.
Then you have those flamers that attack just about anything with little explaination or reason, just showing off I think.
I have written and posted on that board and had been totally ignored, so you dont know if your story and train of thought and the drift of the subject is what peoples like.
Also then you go and say something about a post that really dosent sound right or is of an offensive nature you get some real nasty personal attacks. Of course it just shows the level of intelligence and moral character of the writer of the hate mail.
If you cant say "Boo" I dont Think so, and say your mind without getting some nasty remarks it just shows some persons are without reason or tolerace. Then never to post again for that reason is just the person hurting themselves actually and us as we dont get to enjoy some good tales and sightings.
Whats right about this board we all agree that we can disagree at times and forget about some stuff thats said sometimes.
I enjoy writing here and reading every day and I hope we can keep it going with some interesting sighings and posts.
