This post is kind of rambling but the Sept 11th attacks and the continuing anthrax attacks has raised several issues for me related to our topic. Although relativly unimportant compared to what else has been going on they do exist.
We have all made one important decision to continue with our lives and post here but others will have to be made.
Take security. Many of us have enjoyed either doing or reading about waiting by a long line at a concert etc. With many extra police and video camaras at public events is this a smart idea now?. I went to a store and bought some pee videos the other day (I will review any worthwhile). If you go to this type of store you know they warp the videos in paper and put them in a black plastic bag. I did it but this time I had to think about it. What while in the train station my bag was searched (it wasn't) do I really want everybody to see "Peeing Volume 13"?. So what about the internet you say?. Congress here just passed a law giving the government unlimited power to moniter the internet. I post only because I doubt pee boards are a prime place to look for terrorists.
This affects even what we post. In September I wrote a fictional story and could not bring myself to have the female say "I'm dying" it had a whole new meaning. I would be ok with it now. Most of us would not have written airplane stories if the desperation was caused by a hijacking. I would have trouble writing a story if I saw a women wetting due to the fact she was waiting outside because her building was evacuated due to an anthrax scare. I would have no trouble writing about a women wetting at a concert line. But what is the difference really? Both women were humiliated due to a situation out of her control.
Feel free to comment on these or think of other "issues" that I have not thought of.
