Banned Words

I've noticed that there is at least one "banned" word on this forum - ie. whenever it occurs in a post it is replaced by asterisks...

Don't you think that in an adult fetish forum we should be allowed to type any word we want?? I'm a bit surprised...

I think I have a tendency to use asterisks. It must have something to do with my upbringing, typical of those born before World War II. I'm just not comfortable using certain words in a public forum, no matter how adult. I guess growing up with 40s and 50s values really f**ked up my mind.

I discovered a strange one a couple of years back. I guess it was not Sky that was censoring it but the host site for the board. The strange thing was, I was not using the word - it just occurred as an element in another word. Lets try to see if it still happens:

The word I used was "sniggered" (if it's asterisked again, this is a word meaning a dirty laugh which contains an element that, on its own, is an offensive term for an African-American person).

When I saw what had happened I tries to see what would happen to "Scunthorpe". It was allowed! (If it gets asterisked this time, it is the name of an industrial town in Lincolnshire which contains an element that is a term for female genitals that some people find offensive.)

OK. Let's go.......
