To help Sky out, I have edited this thread and will use it to maintain a list of known issues and priorities for fixing. Comments previously added to this thread are now in a separate thread entitled 'Comments on new message board version': link to thread (http://www.wetbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7279).
I will edit this post to maintain lists of open / maybe fixed / fixed issues. When issues are fixed, Sky or I will move them between lists. If people become aware of new issues, please reply at the end of this thread and I will pick up the issues and add them to the list. Please post general comments on the 'Comments...' thread, not here, and keep this thread for actual issues.
Finally, please bear in mind that poor Sky is doing all this on the message board as well as posting the movies and photos and running the weekly webcam. So please be patient if it takes a few days to fix the issues, especially the lower priority ones. Thank you.
Open issues
Priority: high. On the last page there are a number of posts with date 1 Jan 1970 and their content is not visible. When I try to delete these, I get a board software error. Check that the database entries for these posts are not corrupt in case this is a symptom of a worse problem and then fix them.
Priority: medium. Is the default view for Off-topic set to something other than From The Beginning? ALl the posts seem to disappear and users had to change the option to see tham again. For me, the technical boards also show one month and I'm sure that I didn't set that.
Priority: low. Send instructions to moderators how to use administration facilities most effectively, especially thread deletion which seems to take 2 or 3 steps.
Priority: low. Maybe increase maximum avatar size from 80x80 pixels to, say, 120x120 pixels and limit it to 16 kb. That would give more flexibility (we're having to shrink Holly's head and operate on her neck and legs to fit!). Profile images could be 250x250 pixels and 64 kb.

Remove pop-up of start of post when hovering over title in index, to preserve Kate's sanity. No other complaints so far - I quite like it as it enables one line spam to be identified quickly! :roll:

Post window does not show text formatting options or smilies. Sky fixed this, probably by setting that view as the default.
Smilies are now shown but link to Confused smilie is broken. Some smilies are shown several times and others are not shown. Change the list displayed in the post window to show one each of the more common smilies (the list shown at the bottom to tag the whole post less 'list' plus 'razz', 'roll' and a replacement for 'oops' - maybe 'whoops' - would be good). There is also a problem where one smiley is a substring of another in the codes from the old board. The smaller one shows together with spurious letters from the larger one. Ensure that codes are not substrings. For example (using ~ to separate characters) :~o is a substring of :~oops~: so 'oops' shows as :oops: Sky sorted out most issues with the smilies and I have made further proposals above.
Priority: medium. Board has reinstated old avatars but facility to edit does not work so broken links cannot be repaired. Either enable avatars or delete old avatars. Update page fixed.
Priority: medium. Board now allows replies to individual posts creating a tree structure, not just a single list. Posts show in different orders dpending on user selection of view Linear / Hybrid / Threaded. In Hybrid (and maybe Threaded) mode, users get a script warning about slow running. Check if there is a software problem causing this. If possible, set board options to reduce confusion, probably by making Linear the default. Sky made Linear mode the default. The script warning is not an error; it will happen if you use other modes.
Priority: medium. There are hundreds of registered usernames with no posts ever and last activity over six months ago. Delete these to free up usernames for new users registering. Sky deleted user accounts with no log in in the last year.
Priority: medium-low. Describe steps in seniority: Junior - Member - Senior. Or, preferably, reinstate mouse levels and repeat the description of them. Increased in priority as they were popular! Sky implemented the proposal below.
Linked to smilie point. Also, increase limit on number of images / smilies in a post - it seems to have gone low again (to 6?) as I got an error. Sky increased this.
Priority: high. Board is not sending emails, including those to confirm registrations. Sky and his ISP fixed this problem.
Linked to smilie point. To fix the sub-string problem with :~oops~: (pretend the ~ are not there), maybe change it to :~whoops~:. As only the first 15 smilies show in the quick table on the right of a posting window, relegate :~?~:, :~!~: and :~arrow~: out of the first 15 in the master list and promote :~(, :~lol~:, :~whoops~: so that they are shown instead. Sky fixed 'oops' and expanded the table, but old posts won't show 'oops' correctly - this is probably not worth fixing.
Priority: medium. Problem with enhanced reply mentioned by Val. This was finally fixed by checking the User Control Panel setting to show images and Val using the Post Reply button instead of Quick Reply.
Priority: low. Views column is not increasing so is not tracking views. Sky got the background process to run and they went up in fits and starts. Now it seems to be working OK.
