Well I would have to agree with this. Having a specific section for stories may even encourage more story writing and that can only be a good thing.

Mmm... we would lose the power of 'everything in one place' and it would make the board more difficult to use. Those who like that idea, tell me what you would think of users posting stories on the main board but having a separate one, accessible for posting only to moderators, where we could copy (not move without trace) stories? It's more work but it preserves the benefits of 'one board' while gathering the stories neatly (which we could label real or fiction in the title).

I think I could commit to do that (but I might need reminding if I miss a post as I don't read all of them), at least for now. It would best be done after a week so the replies go with it too.

If we went that route, if people let me know URLs of old story posts, I could copy them over time too. Maybe we would have a single thread to keep replying with links when found. We would end up with a hell of a book of stories...! :)

I think that would be good idea. Maybe you could pick three stories from each writer say. You could choose them or you could ask everybody on the main message board to nominate our three favourites and then copy them to this section. I could nominate three of Estelle's or Indigo's for example and maybe three of mine. There have been lots of good stories from so many writers, including the very old ones, so it would be fun to see them altogether. I think it would be important to get a good variety of authors rather than just the ones that have written alot. You could add to them as new stories came along......as I'm sure they would!

What do other posters think? Do you like the idea or are you not really bothered :?:

It's a reasonable compromise isn't it? I was thinking that stories are definitely not off topic but neiher are they 100% on topic compared to chat, debate and experience.

I think that you have misunderstood 'stories', Val. I believe that Holly means posts describing experiences (as opposed to general chit chat, questions, word association etc) including both true and fiction stories. When copied, the title could be edited as appropriate to start 'Real:' or 'Fiction:'. That seems to be in line with your original idea, but please confirm. Thanks.

I reminded Sky to think about it at the webcam last night, so I hope to hear soon, but it would have to be after he fixes the current server problems. :arrow:
